Oil Bars: Single-Pigment Colors – Synthetic Pigments
Red Iron Oxide Oil Bar
Joules & Joules Red Iron Oxide Oil Bar is a derivation of our Red Iron Oxide oil paint. In this process, safe quantities of beeswax and carnauba wax are added to the recipe, keeping the outer membrane solid, and the oil bar creamy inside. Joules & Joules Red Iron Oxide is a dark, semi-opaque, and highly lightfast red, with moderate tinting strength and high covering power. It is reddish and orange in its undertones. Also known as Mars Red, it was first synthetically produced in the mid-18th century.
