Oil Bars: Single-Pigment Colors – Synthetic Pigments
Prussian Blue Oil Bar
Joules & Joules Prussian Blue Oil Baris a derivation of our Prussian Blue oil paint. In this process, safe quantities of beeswax and carnauba wax are added to the recipe, keeping the outer membrane solid, and the oil bar creamy inside. Joules & Joules Prussian Blue is a dark, semi-transparent, highly lightfast greenish-blue with high tinting strength and moderate covering power. Its undertones are noticeably more subtle and gray-toned in comparison to Phthalo Blue's. It was the first modern color to be synthesized in a laboratory, in 1706. Greatly favored by the Impressionists as an alternative to black.
